PARTNERS

RTI’s strategic partnerships are NYU Stern School of Business and the Industrial and Technology Assistance Corporation (ITAC), a non-profit consulting and training organization dedicated to helping NYC manufacturing and technology companies with programs that increase their top and bottom lines. Both NYU Stern and ITAC will be key consultants and assist with outreach.

BENEFICIARIES

The results of RTI’s NY Green Business Study will give insight to the inner workings of New York’s green economy, reveal where support is needed, and give a short-term outlook of where trends are heading. The aggregated information will be extremely valuable to a variety of organizations including state and local governments, incentive programs, banking facilities, online resources providers, universities, investment firms, and even entrepreneurs looking to get involved in green industries. Most importantly, the study will shed light on how to support existing green businesses, and incentivize others to relocate to, and ultimately stay, in New York.

NY GBS GOALS:

  1. Identify and incorporate all stakeholders' needs and services to create a report that will highlight green business trends, support services, barriers to growth, and solutions to overcome them.
  2. Calculate to what extent the identified businesses implement sustainable practices.
  3. Identify barriers that prevent growth for NY green businesses and recommend how to overcome those barriers.
  4. Identify businesses that have a desire to implement sustainable practices, but have not yet done so.
  5. Identify industries that most likely will see further investment, business services, and entrepreneurial interest.
  6. Identify jobs and job training needs of green businesses.
  7. Identify university and business partnerships.
  8. Recommend new incentive programs for attracting and retaining green businesses in New York State.
  9. Recommend marketing strategy to reach and educate the identified businesses about existing support programs.
